The Wonder Way™ Capstone Scholarship
Finishing the Mission: From Work-in-Progress to World-Class Master
The Opportunity
Do you have a project that is “almost there”? A song or an album that has the soul but lacks the professional polish, the depth, and the legendary “ear”?
The Touch a Knob Make a Sound Academy is now accepting applications for our inaugural “Wonder Way” Capstone Scholarship Program. This is not a traditional classroom. This is an intensive, one-on-one mentorship designed to transform your existing work into a professional-grade master.
The Mentorship Team
Selected scholars will work directly with veteran recording engineer, producer, and mixer “Bobby” Brooks, alongside other highly qualified staff and expert board members. Bobby’s standards were forged over 45 years in the industry, including decades as an engineer and mixer for Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Rick James.
Our team brings a combined legacy of excellence from Motown’s Hitsville, Universal Recording Corp, Wonderland Studios, Ocean Way Studios, and The Gallery Studios, with a network of experience including 2Pac, Prince, The Notorious B.I.G., Teena Marie, Ice T & Body Count, P.O.D., Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Diana Ross, Andre Cymone, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Quincy Jones, Bruce Swedien, Berry Gordy and Herb Alpert , to name just a few.
The Philosophy: The “Why ” Before the “How”
Through this scholarship, you will learn “The Wonder Way”—Bobby’s philosophy of production that moves beyond “pushing buttons” and “plugin presets” to understanding the true language of music and technical purpose.
The Wonder Way™ Defined
The Wonder Way™ is Bobby Brooks’ philosophy of record making developed through more than four decades inside the world’s greatest recording studios. Shaped by years working alongside legendary artists, producers, and engineers, the philosophy emphasizes emotional authenticity, uncompromising sound quality, and serving the song above all else. Rather than focusing on presets, shortcuts, or trends, The Wonder Way™ teaches artists and engineers to understand the deeper language of music—the purpose behind every musical and technical decision made in the studio.
In the modern industry, sessions are often treated as social events or “parties.” At the Academy, we treat the studio as a Sacred Room. These sessions are high-level clinical environments where the focus is strictly on the work. You can find a million videos online showing you how to use a plugin, but you won’t find a single one that teaches you why you should be making that move in the first place.
The Hall of Fame Difference
Think of it like baseball: If your lifetime hitting average is .250, you’re an unknown. But if you work with the right hitting coach—someone who doesn’t just show you how to swing, but ask you “why” you are swinging at that pitch, teaches you why you should or shouldn’t swing at any particular pitch that is thrown at you with your individual skillset and talents ,the “why” behind the decisions you should be making—and you raise your average by just 75 points to .325, you become a Hall of Famer. That 75-point difference is the Bobby’s “Wonder Way.”
