Mission

“Touch a Knob Make a Sound Academy is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing real-world music production education, mentorship, creative development, and personal growth opportunities for emerging creators and underserved communities.

Founded by veteran recording engineer, producer, and educator Robert “Bobby” Brooks, the academy was created to help preserve professional recording knowledge, critical listening skills, discipline, teamwork, communication, patience, leadership, problem-solving, and mentorship traditions that are becoming increasingly difficult to access through traditional educational pathways alone.

“More than simply teaching music production, the academy uses creative education as a foundation for developing life skills that can benefit students in any future endeavor or career path. Through mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on learning, students are encouraged to develop discipline, communication skills, critical thinking, emotional control, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, personal accountability, and the confidence to navigate real-world challenges both inside and outside of creative environments.

The goal is not only to help students grow artistically, but to help prepare them to become stronger individuals capable of applying these skills throughout their lives — whether in music, business, education, technology, entrepreneurship, or everyday personal growth.”
